His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and a global advocate for peace, compassion, and non-violence. Born in 1935 in northeastern Tibet, he was recognized as the reincarnation of his predecessor at the age of two and assumed full responsibilities as head of state and spiritual leader of Tibet by age 16. Exiled since 1959 following the Chinese invasion, he has resided in India, from where he continues to promote dialogue between religions and cultures. A Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 1989, the Dalai Lama's teachings emphasize inner peace as the foundation for world harmony, drawing from ancient wisdom to address modern challenges like environmental crises and emotional well-being.
