Bikram Choudhury is the pioneering founder of Bikram Yoga, a dynamic system of 26 postures and two breathing exercises performed in a heated room, which has revolutionized modern yoga practice worldwide. Born in Calcutta, India, in 1946, Choudhury began his yogic journey at the tender age of four under the guidance of his guru, Bishnu Ghosh, and went on to win the National India Yoga Championship at just 11 years old. After moving to the United States in the 1970s, he established his first yoga school in Beverly Hills, California, and developed a rigorous teacher training program that has certified thousands of instructors globally. Through his teachings, Choudhury emphasizes discipline, resilience, and the transformative power of yoga to heal the body and mind, drawing from his own experiences overcoming a severe injury to his knee.
