About the Author

Alan King is a dynamic poet and environmental advocate whose work bridges the worlds of literature and social justice. Born and raised in the rust-belt landscapes of Pennsylvania, King's poetry often draws from his experiences as a Black man navigating urban decay and ecological crises. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Pittsburgh and has been widely published in journals such as The Paris Review and Orion Magazine. As an educator and community organizer, King champions eco-justice, using his verse to amplify marginalized voices in the fight against environmental racism. His debut anthology, Ghost Fishing: An Eco-Justice Poetry Anthology, co-edited with a collective of visionary writers, explores the intersections of pollution, identity, and resilience, earning praise for its urgent, lyrical call to action. King's writing continues to inspire readers to confront the ghosts of industrial neglect and envision a more equitable future.
