About the Author

Yi Da Li Ai Lai Na, also known as Elena Ferrante, is the enigmatic Italian author whose pseudonymous works have captivated readers worldwide with their unflinching exploration of female experience, identity, and societal constraints. Born in Naples, Ferrante's writing draws deeply from the city's vibrant yet tumultuous undercurrents, blending psychological depth with social commentary. Her breakthrough came with the Naples Tetralogy, a masterful series chronicling the intertwined lives of two women from childhood to old age amid Italy's post-war transformations. In her latest novel, Lie Life of Adults, Ferrante delves into the harsh realities of adolescence, tracing a young girl's journey from naive youth to self-liberation through personal and familial strife. Celebrated for her elusive persona—having never appeared publicly—Ferrante's prose continues to provoke and illuminate the complexities of human relationships and resilience.
