Yao Nai (姚鼐, 1749–1815), a distinguished Qing dynasty scholar and literary critic, was renowned for his profound contributions to classical Chinese prose. Born in Tongcheng, Anhui, he excelled in the imperial examinations, achieving the jinshi degree in 1775, and later served as an editor at the Siku Quanshu project.
