About the Author
Widukind of Corvey was a tenth-century Saxon monk and historian whose writings provide one of the most important contemporary accounts of early medieval Germany. As a member of the monastic community at Corvey Abbey, he chronicled the rise of the Ottonian dynasty and the political and military exploits of the Saxon people with both insight and rhetorical skill. His work remains a foundational source for understanding the formation of medieval European states and the cultural transitions of the period.
