About the Author

Weng Fanggang (1733–1818), a distinguished Qing dynasty scholar and poet, was renowned for his profound contributions to classical Chinese literature and epigraphy. Born in Beijing to a prominent family, he passed the imperial examinations with distinction, securing the jinshi degree in 1755, and went on to serve in various official capacities, including as a compiler in the Hanlin Academy. Weng's scholarly pursuits extended to poetry, calligraphy, and the study of ancient inscriptions, where his meticulous analysis and elegant prose illuminated historical artifacts.
