About the Author
Wab Kinew is a celebrated Indigenous author, musician, broadcaster, and the first First Nations person to serve as Premier of Manitoba, blending his rich Anishinaabe heritage with a commitment to storytelling that bridges cultures and generations. Drawing from personal experiences and historical narratives, Kinew's works illuminate the resilience and achievements of Indigenous peoples, fostering understanding and pride in young readers and adults alike. His memoir 'The Reason You Walk' recounts his journey of reconciliation with his father and Ojibwe traditions, while children's books like 'Go Show the World' and 'We Are Who We Are' honor heroes from Tecumseh to modern trailblazers. In the young adult Floraverse series, including 'Walking in Two Worlds' and 'The Everlasting Road,' he explores themes of identity, technology, and spirituality in a contemporary Indigenous context. Through evocative prose and heartfelt insights, Kinew continues to inspire a deeper appreciation for diverse voices in Canadian literature.
