About the Author

Uzodinma Iweala is an acclaimed Nigerian-American author and filmmaker whose debut novel, Beasts of No Nation: A Harrowing Coming of Age War Story of a Child Soldier in Africa (P.S.), catapulted him to international recognition at the age of 24. Drawing from his experiences growing up in Washington, D.C., and his deep connections to Nigeria, Iweala crafts narratives that illuminate the human cost of conflict, poverty, and cultural displacement with unflinching honesty and poetic intensity. A graduate of Harvard University and a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, he has since expanded his creative pursuits to include documentary filmmaking and nonprofit leadership, serving as the executive director of the Africa Center in New York. Iweala's work continues to challenge global perceptions of Africa, blending raw emotional depth with insightful social commentary to foster empathy and dialogue across borders.
