Travis Taniguchi

About the Author

Travis Taniguchi is a distinguished criminologist and author whose work bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world application in the field of urban studies and crime prevention. With a PhD in criminology from a leading institution, he has spent over two decades researching the spatial dynamics of crime, emphasizing how environmental factors influence criminal behavior in modern societies. Taniguchi's insights have informed policy decisions at local and national levels, advocating for community-based interventions that address the root causes of urban decay and inequality. His seminal book, Place Matters: Criminology for the Twenty-First Century, offers a compelling framework for understanding and mitigating crime through place-based strategies, making complex ideas accessible to scholars, policymakers, and the general public alike. Beyond writing, Taniguchi lectures internationally and consults on urban safety initiatives, driven by a passion for creating safer, more equitable cities.
