About the Author
Tiptree, Jr., James, the pen name of Alice Sheldon, emerged as a distinctive voice in speculative fiction during the 1970s, crafting stories that probe the boundaries of gender, identity, and human connection with unflinching insight. Drawing on a background in intelligence work and experimental psychology, Sheldon infused narratives with psychological depth and philosophical inquiry, often challenging readers to reconsider assumptions about society and self. The acclaimed novella Houston, Houston Do You Read? exemplifies this approach, blending rigorous speculation with emotional resonance to explore themes of isolation and possibility.
