About the Author

Tasos Livaditis was a major modern Greek poet whose work combined lyrical intensity with social conscience, political reflection, and a profound sensitivity to human vulnerability. Emerging in the postwar period, he developed a distinctive voice shaped by personal experience, historical upheaval, love, loss, and the search for dignity amid uncertainty. His poetry remains valued for its emotional directness, imaginative imagery, and philosophical depth, securing his place among Greece’s important twentieth-century writers. His work is represented in NEO — HELLENE POETS: An Anthology of Modern Greek Poetry: 1750-2018, introducing readers to the breadth of modern Greek poetic expression.
