About the Author
Sugiyama Shigemaru is a Japanese scholar whose research centers on the intellectual and political history of modern East Asia. His work examines the emergence of activist pan-Asian thought through detailed archival study and careful contextual analysis. By tracing the ideological roots of groups such as the Genyosha and Kokuryukai, he illuminates the complex interplay between nationalism, imperialism, and transnational solidarity in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Japan.
