Sima Samar is a renowned Afghan human rights activist, medical doctor, and author whose life and work embody unwavering courage in the face of oppression. Born in 1957 in Jaghori, Afghanistan, she pursued medicine at Kabul University before the Soviet invasion disrupted her studies, leading her to continue her education in Pakistan.
