Rosa Luxemburg
About the Author
Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919) was a pioneering Marxist theorist, revolutionary socialist, and economist whose incisive writings profoundly shaped the early 20th-century labor movement and socialist thought. Born in Russian-occupied Poland to a Jewish family, she became a naturalized German citizen and played a key role in founding the Social Democratic Party of the Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania, as well as influencing the German Social Democratic Party. A fierce critic of reformism and imperialism, Luxemburg advocated for mass strikes and international solidarity among workers, often clashing with both Bolshevik and social democratic leaders. Her intellectual legacy endures through works that blend rigorous economic analysis with passionate calls for democratic socialism, inspiring generations of activists and scholars worldwide despite her tragic assassination during the German Revolution.
