Rochus Misch
About the Author
Rochus Misch was a German soldier who served as Adolf Hitler's bodyguard and telephone operator during the final years of World War II, becoming one of the last witnesses to the Führer's inner circle. Born in 1917 in Alt Schwerin, Misch joined the SS in 1937 and was assigned to Hitler's personal staff in 1940, where he remained until the fall of Berlin in 1945. Captured by Soviet forces, he endured a decade in labor camps before returning to East Germany, where he worked as a painter and decorator. In his later years, Misch broke his silence with Hitler's Last Witness: The Memoirs of Hitler's Bodyguard, offering a unique, firsthand account of life in the bunker and the chaotic end of the Third Reich. He passed away in 2013, leaving behind a controversial yet invaluable historical perspective.
