About the Author

Otto H. Frank (1889-1980) was a German-Dutch businessman and the devoted father of Anne Frank, whose poignant diary he preserved and published after the harrowing events of the Holocaust. Born in Frankfurt, Otto served in World War I before establishing a pectin trading company that he relocated to Amsterdam to escape rising antisemitism. During the Nazi occupation, he and his family hid in a secret annex for over two years, only to be discovered and deported to concentration camps. Miraculously surviving Auschwitz, Otto returned to find his wife and daughters had perished, but he honored Anne's wish by editing and releasing her diary in 1947, transforming it into a global testament to resilience, humanity, and the enduring power of hope amid unimaginable adversity.
