Nina Berberova, a Russian émigré writer born in 1901 in St. Petersburg, became one of the most poignant voices of the Russian diaspora in the 20th century. Fleeing the Bolshevik Revolution, she settled in Paris and later New York, where she chronicled the lives of exiles with unflinching honesty and subtle irony. Her works often explore themes of displacement, identity, and the quiet resilience of the human spirit amid political upheaval. Berberova's literary career spanned novels, short stories, memoirs, and biographies, earning her acclaim for capturing the nuances of émigré existence.
