About the Author
Nemonte Nenquimo is a Waorani leader, Indigenous rights activist, and author from Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest. A powerful advocate for Indigenous sovereignty, environmental protection, and the preservation of ancestral knowledge, she has brought global attention to the communities defending their lands from extractive industries. Her memoirs, including We Will Be Jaguars (Reese's Book Club Pick): A Memoir of My People, Seremos jaguares: Vida y resistencia en la Amazonía (Spanish Edition), and We Will Not Be Saved: A memoir of hope and resistance in the Amazon rainforest (Reese Witherspoon's Book Club Pick), blend personal experience with a compelling call for justice, solidarity, and hope.
