Nan Shepherd (1893-1981) was a Scottish novelist, poet, and essayist whose deep connection to the natural world profoundly shaped her literary output. Born and raised in the village of West Cults near Aberdeen, she spent much of her life exploring the rugged beauty of the Cairngorm Mountains, which became the spiritual heart of her writing.
