Mao Tse-Tung, born Mao Zedong in 1893 in Shaoshan, Hunan Province, was a revolutionary leader, political theorist, and founding father of the People's Republic of China. Rising from humble beginnings as a farmer's son, he became a pivotal figure in the Chinese Communist Party, leading the Long March and ultimately establishing communist rule in 1949. As Chairman of the People's Republic from 1949 to 1959 and lifelong party leader, Mao's philosophies shaped modern China through campaigns like the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, blending Marxism-Leninism with Chinese agrarian realities. His writings, including the influential Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, known as the Little Red Book, inspired millions worldwide and remain a cornerstone of Maoist thought, emphasizing self-reliance, class struggle, and revolutionary zeal.
