About the Author
Loung Ung is a Cambodian-American author, activist, and survivor of the Khmer Rouge regime, whose powerful storytelling brings to life the harrowing experiences of her homeland's darkest chapter. Born in Phnom Penh in 1970, she endured the brutal forced labor and starvation of the Killing Fields as a child, losing much of her family before escaping to Vietnam and eventually resettling in the United States as a refugee.
