About the Author
Kudsi Erguner is a renowned Turkish musician, ney master, and scholar of Sufi traditions, whose life and work bridge the ancient spiritual heritage of the Ottoman Empire with contemporary global audiences. Born in Istanbul in 1952, he inherited the art of the ney flute from his father, Ulvi Erguner, and has dedicated his career to preserving and revitalizing the mystical music of Mevlevi Sufism. As a performer, composer, and teacher, Erguner has collaborated with luminaries across cultures, from the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to Western orchestras, while founding ensembles like the Sultoni Ensemble to revive classical Turkish repertoire. His memoir, Journeys of a Sufi Musician, offers an intimate glimpse into his spiritual odyssey, blending personal anecdotes with profound insights into the soul-stirring power of Sufi music and its timeless relevance in a modern world.
