About the Author

Kisshomaru Ueshiba, the son of aikido's legendary founder Morihei Ueshiba, dedicated his life to preserving and disseminating the art of harmony through non-violent self-defense. Born in 1921 in Ayabe, Japan, he trained rigorously under his father from a young age, eventually becoming the second doshu of the Aikikai Foundation and leading the organization for over three decades until his passing in 1999.
