Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok (1933–2004) was a revered Tibetan Buddhist scholar, visionary leader, and founder of the Larung Gar Buddhist Academy in Sertshul, Sichuan, China, which grew into one of the world's largest centers for Buddhist study and practice, attracting thousands of monks, nuns, and lay practitioners from across Tibet and beyond. Born in the Kham region of eastern Tibet, he demonstrated extraordinary spiritual insight from a young age, mastering the sutras and tantras under renowned teachers and establishing himself as a profound exponent of the Nyingma tradition.
