About the Author

June Milne was a distinguished British writer, editor, and publisher whose career was deeply intertwined with the anti-colonial movements of the 20th century. Born in London, she first gained prominence through her close association with Kwame Nkrumah, the first Prime Minister and President of Ghana, whom she met during his exile in the UK. Milne served as Nkrumah's personal secretary and editor, playing a pivotal role in disseminating his pan-Africanist ideas to the world. Her seminal work, Forward Ever. Kwame Nkrumah: A Biography, offers an intimate and authoritative portrait of the leader's life, struggles, and vision for African unity. Beyond biography, Milne founded the Panaf Books publishing house in 1968, dedicated to promoting African literature and political thought. Throughout her life, she remained a steadfast advocate for liberation and social justice, contributing to numerous publications on African history and politics until her passing in 2015.
