江戸川乱歩は、明治44年（1911年）に生まれ、日本の推理小説界に革命をもたらした巨匠である。本名は平井太郎で、愛知県出身。エドガー・アラン・ポーの影響を強く受け、独自の怪奇的で心理的なミステリーを展開した。1923年に「二銭銅貨」で注目を集め、以降、明智小五郎を主人公とした数々の傑作を生み出した。少年探偵団シリーズでは、子供たちに推理の楽しさを伝える一方、大人向けの作品では人間の暗部を探求。戦後まで活躍し、現代のミステリー作家に多大な影響を与えた。乱歩の作品は、論理的謎解きと幻想的な恐怖が融合した独特の世界観で知られ、文学史に永遠の足跡を残している。
