Jean-Martin Moyë (1730-1793) was a French Jesuit priest, missionary, and prolific writer whose life was dedicated to spreading the Catholic faith in both Europe and Asia. Born in Metz, he joined the Society of Jesus and was ordained in 1756, later embarking on missionary work in China where he founded schools and orphanages, earning him the title 'Apostle of Sichuan.' Despite facing persecution and exile, Moyë's commitment to education and evangelization remained unwavering, leading to his eventual return to France. His writings, often theological and instructional, aimed to make complex doctrines accessible to the faithful, reflecting his pastoral zeal and scholarly depth. Canonized in 1954, Moyë's legacy endures through his contributions to missionary literature and spiritual guidance.
