Idra Novey is an acclaimed poet, translator, and novelist whose work bridges the personal and the political with lyrical precision. Born in Pennsylvania, she has lived in Chile, Brazil, and New York, drawing from these experiences to explore themes of displacement, language, and resilience. Her debut novel, Ways to Disappear, captivated readers with its inventive narrative of a translator vanishing in Brazil, blending mystery and cultural immersion. Novey's poetry collections, including The Next Big Thing and Tremble, Baby, reflect her deep engagement with translation as both craft and metaphor. A MacDowell Fellow and winner of the Poetry Society of America's Alice Fay di Castagnola Award, she teaches at Princeton University and continues to champion underrepresented voices through her writing and advocacy.
