Humberto R. Maturana, a pioneering Chilean biologist and philosopher, revolutionized our understanding of cognition and life through his groundbreaking work in biology and epistemology. Born in 1928, Maturana co-developed the theory of autopoiesis, which describes living systems as self-maintaining and self-producing entities, fundamentally reshaping fields from neuroscience to social theory.
