About the Author
Honoré Beaugrand was a Québécois writer, journalist, publisher, and political figure whose work helped shape French-Canadian literary and public culture in the late nineteenth century. Born in Lanaudière in 1848, he pursued journalism in both Canada and the United States before returning to Montreal, where he became mayor from 1885 to 1887. His writing often explored migration, cultural identity, nationalism, and the tensions between tradition and modernity. He is best remembered for Jeanne la Fileuse: Un récit de l'émigration franco-canadienne et des défis identitaires (French Edition), a socially engaged work rooted in the Franco-Canadian experience.
