About the Author
Gelek Rimpoche, a revered Tibetan Buddhist scholar and teacher, was born in 1939 in Lhasa, Tibet, and recognized at the age of four as the reincarnation of the eleventh Gelugpa Throneholder of Tibet. He received comprehensive training in Buddhist philosophy, meditation, and tantric practices under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other eminent masters. Exiled from Tibet in 1959, he continued his spiritual journey in India before settling in the United States in 1971, where he founded the Jewel Heart organization to disseminate authentic Tibetan Buddhist teachings. Renowned for his ability to bridge Eastern wisdom with Western sensibilities, Gelek Rimpoche authored insightful works that make profound dharma accessible to contemporary audiences, including his seminal book 'SEM.' His teachings emphasize practical application of Buddhist principles in daily life, fostering compassion, mindfulness, and inner peace amid modern challenges. Gelek Rimpoche passed away in 2017, leaving a lasting legacy through his writings, lectures, and devoted students worldwide.
