Frederic Prokosch (1908-1989) was an American poet, novelist, and travel writer whose lyrical prose and evocative imagery captured the wanderlust of the human spirit across continents and cultures. Born in Wisconsin to academic parents, he spent much of his life abroad, residing in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, which profoundly influenced his work. Prokosch's debut novel, Voices, published in 1938, introduced his signature blend of exotic settings and introspective narratives, earning him early acclaim and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
