Dr. Fred Craddock

About the Author

Dr. Fred Craddock is a distinguished theologian and preacher whose insights into the art of homiletics have influenced generations of clergy and scholars. With a career spanning decades, he has served as a professor of preaching and New Testament at Emory University and the Candler School of Theology, where he emphasized the importance of narrative and experiential elements in sermon delivery. Craddock's approach revolutionized preaching by advocating for inductive methods that engage listeners through storytelling rather than didactic proclamation. His seminal work, Overhearing the Gospel: Revised and Expanded Edition, exemplifies his commitment to making ancient texts resonate in contemporary contexts, offering practical guidance for crafting sermons that invite reflection and transformation. Beyond the pulpit, Craddock's writings continue to inspire a deeper understanding of biblical interpretation and the power of the spoken word in spiritual life.
