About the Author

Carl von Clausewitz, the renowned Prussian general and military theorist, profoundly shaped modern strategic thought through his seminal work, 'On War' (Vom Kriege), a comprehensive treatise on the philosophy and practice of warfare that remains a cornerstone of Western military theory. Born in 1780, Clausewitz rose through the ranks during the Napoleonic Wars, serving as a staff officer and later as director of the Prussian War College, where he lectured on military history and strategy. His writings, translated into Chinese by Yu Jie as '战争论：西方军事理论经典之作堪称西方“孙子兵法”', explore the dialectical nature of conflict, emphasizing the interplay of chance, probability, and human will, often likening war to a continuation of politics by other means.
