David Noel Freedman (1922–2008) was a preeminent biblical scholar, archaeologist, and editor whose lifelong dedication to the Hebrew Bible shaped modern understanding of ancient texts. Educated at Princeton and Johns Hopkins, he served as a professor at institutions including the University of Michigan and the Albright Institute of Archaeological Research, contributing to numerous excavations in Israel and Jordan.
