Commerford, Martin, Thomas
About the Author
Thomas Commerford Martin was a pioneering American electrical engineer, editor, and author whose contributions to the documentation of early electrical science remain invaluable. Born in 1856, he collaborated closely with Thomas Edison before becoming the editor of Electrical World and later serving as president of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Martin's writings bridged the gap between technical innovation and public understanding, making complex concepts accessible to a wide audience. His seminal work, The Inventions, Researches and Writings of Nikola Tesla: With Special Reference to His Work in Polyphase Currents and High Potential Lighting, published in 1893, provided one of the first comprehensive accounts of Tesla's groundbreaking experiments, cementing Martin's legacy as a chronicler of the electrical age. He passed away in 1920, leaving behind a body of work that illuminated the dawn of modern technology.
