Chi Pang-Yuan (1921–2014) was a pioneering Taiwanese literary scholar, translator, and memoirist whose life bridged the tumultuous landscapes of 20th-century China and Taiwan. Born in Manchuria, he navigated the upheavals of war, displacement, and cultural revolution, eventually settling in Taiwan where he became a foundational figure in modern Chinese literature studies.
