About the Author
Bertrand de Jouvenel (1903-1987) was a distinguished French philosopher, political economist, and futurist whose interdisciplinary work profoundly influenced 20th-century thought on governance, society, and human progress. Born into an aristocratic family, he navigated the turbulent intellectual currents of interwar Europe, evolving from early socialist leanings to a nuanced advocacy for liberal pluralism and ecological awareness. His explorations of power dynamics, sovereignty, and the ethical dimensions of modernity continue to resonate with scholars and policymakers alike. De Jouvenel's prescient insights into the interplay between technology, environment, and political order underscore his enduring legacy as a thinker who bridged philosophy and practical foresight, urging a balanced approach to human flourishing in an increasingly complex world.
