Basil Rogger is a Swiss artist, filmmaker, and writer whose work delves into the intersections of art, politics, and society. Born in Zurich, he studied at the Zurich University of the Arts before pursuing a multidisciplinary career that spans visual installations, experimental films, and critical essays. Rogger's explorations often center on themes of resistance, collective action, and the role of aesthetics in social movements, drawing from his experiences in activist circles and international art scenes. His debut book, Protest: The Aesthetics of Resistance, examines how visual and performative strategies have shaped protest cultures from the streets of Hong Kong to the squares of Europe. Through his incisive prose and innovative approaches, Rogger challenges readers to reconsider the power of art as a tool for dissent and transformation. He lives and works between Zurich and Berlin, continuing to exhibit and lecture worldwide.
