Avery Cardinal Dulles, a distinguished Jesuit priest and theologian, served as a professor at Fordham University and later as the Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society. Born in 1918, he converted to Catholicism in 1940 and was ordained in 1956, eventually rising to the rank of cardinal in 2001. Dulles's scholarly work profoundly shaped modern Catholic thought, emphasizing the dynamic role of tradition in the life of the Church. His seminal book, The Meaning of Tradition, explores how sacred heritage evolves while remaining rooted in apostolic origins, offering insights that bridge historical doctrine with contemporary faith.
