About the Author

Felix Salten, the renowned Austrian author born Siegmund Salzmann in 1869, is celebrated for his profound contributions to children's literature and nature writing, drawing from his deep affinity for the wilderness and animal kingdoms. Growing up in Vienna, Salten's early career as a journalist and critic honed his observational skills, which he later channeled into evocative narratives that blend realism with poignant humanism. His most iconic work, 'Bambi, a Life in the Woods,' published in 1923, immortalized the struggles of a young deer navigating the perils of forest life, inspiring generations and even a beloved Disney adaptation. Throughout his prolific output, Salten explored themes of survival, innocence, and the harmony between humans and nature, leaving an indelible mark on global literature until his passing in 1945.
