Anton Diabelli (1781–1858) was an Austrian composer, pianist, and publisher whose contributions to music education and performance remain influential in classical repertoire. Born in Mattighofen, he studied in Vienna and became a key figure in the city's musical life, co-founding the publishing house Regensburg in 1818, which later evolved into Diabelli & Co. Known for his accessible yet engaging compositions, Diabelli created works that bridged the gap between pedagogical exercises and concert pieces, particularly for piano. His output includes variations, waltzes, and chamber music, with a focus on duets that fostered collaborative playing.
