About the Author
Anne R. Keene is an acclaimed historian and author whose work illuminates the overlooked intersections of sports, military history, and American culture during pivotal eras. With a background in archival research and a passion for uncovering hidden narratives, she brings meticulous detail and engaging storytelling to her explorations of wartime heroism and personal sacrifice. Her debut book, Cloudbuster Nine: The Untold Story of Ted Williams and the Baseball Team That Helped Win World War II, draws on declassified documents and firsthand accounts to reveal how a ragtag group of future baseball legends trained as pilots in North Carolina, contributing to the Allied victory while forging unbreakable bonds. Keene's writing not only honors these unsung contributors but also reflects on the broader impact of World War II on American society, making history accessible and profoundly human.
