Anne Frank, born in 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany, was a young Jewish girl whose poignant diary entries captured the harrowing experiences of hiding from Nazi persecution during World War II. Her family fled to Amsterdam in 1933, but as the war escalated, they went into hiding in a secret annex in 1942, where Anne chronicled her thoughts, fears, and hopes in her diary until their discovery in 1944.
