About the Author
Al Worden, a pioneering astronaut and accomplished author, brings a unique perspective to literature through his firsthand experiences in space exploration. As the command module pilot for Apollo 15 in 1971, Worden orbited the Moon alone while his crewmates ventured to the lunar surface, an isolation that inspired profound reflections on humanity's place in the cosmos. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a veteran test pilot, he transitioned from NASA's front lines to academia and writing, sharing insights into the triumphs and challenges of the space race. In his memoir Falling to Earth: An Apollo 15 Astronaut's Journey to the Moon, Worden vividly recounts his journey from Earth to the stars, blending technical precision with personal introspection to captivate readers interested in history, science, and adventure.
