About the Author
A. James Bernstein, born into a Jewish family in New York City, embarked on a profound spiritual odyssey that reshaped his life and led him to embrace Orthodox Christianity. As a former rabbi and seminary student, Bernstein's journey was marked by intense study of the Scriptures, encounters with Christian theology, and a deep yearning for truth that ultimately drew him to the ancient faith of the early Church. Ordained as an Orthodox priest, he served for decades in parishes across the United States, blending his rabbinic background with Orthodox tradition to bridge worlds and foster understanding. In his acclaimed memoir Surprised by Christ: My Journey From Judaism to Orthodox Christianity, Bernstein recounts this transformative path with honesty and insight, offering readers a compelling narrative of faith, doubt, and divine surprise. Now retired, he continues to lecture and write on interfaith dialogue and spiritual conversion.
