About This Book
Nuestros antepasados is a celebrated collection of three novels by Italo Calvino, originally published in Italian and now available in Spanish. The works blend fantasy and philosophical inquiry, characteristic of Calvino's imaginative style.
El vizconde demediado introduces a nobleman divided into two contrasting halves, each embodying opposing virtues and vices. This story examines the complexities of human duality and moral ambiguity.
El barón rampante follows a young aristocrat who chooses to live his life among the trees, rejecting earthly conventions. It reflects on freedom, isolation, and the pursuit of an unconventional existence.
El caballero inexistente concludes the trilogy with the tale of a knight whose armor is empty, symbolizing absence and the essence of being. The narrative probes themes of reality and illusion in a medieval setting.
Together, these stories form a cohesive exploration of heritage and the absurdities of aristocratic life, inviting readers to ponder deeper existential questions.
