About This Book
Ninefox Gambit introduces a sprawling space opera where calendrical warfare shapes the fate of empires. The story centers on a captain facing execution for failing to suppress a heretical faction that disrupts the mathematical consensus upholding reality.
Rescued by the enigmatic and mad genius General Kel Cheris, she undertakes a daring mission to infiltrate and destroy the heretics from within. Their uneasy partnership tests loyalties in a rigid, hierarchical society.
The narrative explores themes of strategy, heresy, and the cost of conformity in a universe governed by abstract mathematical principles. Yoon Ha Lee's innovative blend of hard science fiction and military tactics creates a compelling addition to the genre.
As the first book in the Machineries of Empire series, it sets the stage for epic conflicts across a vast interstellar domain.
