The Hammer of Witches: A Complete Translation of the Malleus Maleficarum
A complete modern translation of the Malleus Maleficarum, the notorious fifteenth-century manual that guided European witch trials for centuries.
About This Book
The Hammer of Witches presents the first complete English translation of the Malleus Maleficarum since the fifteenth century.
Compiled by Dominican inquisitors Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger, the text served as a manual for identifying, trying, and punishing alleged witches.
This edition supplies extensive notes and an introduction that place the treatise within its late-medieval European context.
Readers gain direct access to one of the most influential and controversial documents in the history of witchcraft persecutions.
